Tale of One City is a literary/arts magazine for Dallas high school students. We invite these teens to submit poetry, prose, music, art, and anything else that best embodies their Dallas experience.
The Tale of One City staff sees Dallas as a culturally rich yet sadly divided place . With the founding and funding of this magazine and the One City Scholarship we hope to bridge social, economic, and cultural gaps through celebrating self-expression. The magazine hopes that by inviting high school students to submit, they will explore their own creativity and their relationship with their environment. Tale of One City is founded on the fundamental idea that through sharing our stories, we can unite our voices as one.
Funded by an SMU Big iDeas grant, the Tale of One City was started in 2010 by two SMU students who hoped to begin a conversation about Dallas and its citizens. As a freshman, I became involved as the Advertising Chair, designing flyers and promotional materials, as well as the 2011-2012 magazine which can be found on Issuu.
As the co-director for the 2012-2013 , I was excited to lead the program and release the third edition of the online magazine in late March 2013.
